Lean on me is a movement piece exploring the dynamics of trust and vulnerability. The work contemplates the idea of support and its abandon.

What does it mean for us to bear weight,
the physical and the emotional weight of another person,
to bear the weight of a community or a country?
How do we bear the weight of our circumstances, decisions and responses?

Lean on me is a tale of two bodies, intertwined and bound together. Drowning on a sailing ship.

The end is near, while they are not. Their story is a journey of how they respond to their circumstances, how they fight each other and how they find a state of interdependence moving towards a resilient nature which supports and challenges them and us.

As one pulls, the other pulls
and as one gives, the other gives in too.
They fight, they hurt,
they struggle and they love,
they move away and they become one.

On a technical note, this is a slow physically tiring piece that plays with body physics using weight, pressure, force and power, while being bound by a rope, to test the dancers’ body limits.
